Fetchr, a Dubai-based delivery logistic company led by Endeavor Entrepreneur Idriss Al Rifai, ranked as number one on Forbes’ second annual Top 100 Startups in the Middle East, with four other Endeavor companies placing in the top 10, and five more ranking throughout.
Within the top 10 companies, Vezeeta, a healthtech company led by Amir Barsoum, ranked third; Paytabs, an online payment platform led by Abdulaziz AlJouf, ranked fourth; Mawdoo3, an Arabic news platform led by Rami Al-Qawasmi and Mohammad Jaber, ranked sixth; and Souqalmal.com, a financial services comparison website led by Ambareen Musa, ranked seventh. Scriptr, ReserveOut, Tamatem, POSRocket, and Eventtus were also recognized on the list.
With a rapidly growing entrepreneurship ecosystem in the region, Forbes’ list is by no means exhaustive. The Top 100 Startups list identified companies offering innovative solutions to regional challenges, but narrowed criteria by which companies younger than six years had raised the most funding.
Forbes also highlighted five later stage companies led by Endeavor Entrepreneurs — Mumzworld, Anghami, ArabiaWeather, MadfooatCom, and Energy24 — on a ranking of 12 Up and Coming Companies. This list focused on companies who had raised more significant amounts of capital, proved to have sustainable business models, delivered to their investors, and “could well be the next big thing to come out of the Middle East.”
