Endeavor Turkey hosted the 2018 Global Entrepreneurship Congress (GEC) April 16-19, in Istanbul, convening over 6,000 non-profit executives, policymakers and entrepreneurs from 160 countries around the world for a week of keynote speeches, intimate panels, and focus groups on key topics in entrepreneurship.
This year’s conference, organized annually in a different country by the Global Entrepreneurship Network and the Kauffman Foundation along with leaders in the local ecosystem, centered on the intersection of mindset, culture and barriers that exist within all entrepreneurship ecosystems.
At GEC, Endeavor team members from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Turkey, Uruguay, and the U.S. had the opportunity to showcase the organization’s unique research and model to the world’s leading entrepreneurship researchers and practitioners. Highlights from GEC included plenary speeches from Endeavor Turkey Managing Director Didem Altop and Endeavor President Fernando Fabre, who shared Endeavor’s findings on what it takes to build thriving, impactful ecosystems of entrepreneurship anywhere in the world, as well as panels featuring Endeavor staff members, board members, entrepreneurs.
The Colombia delegation to the GEC, led by Endeavor Colombia, was also awarded Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) Campaign of the Year. GEW Colombia brought together more than 80,000 people from around the country with more than 1,100 events aimed at mobilizing entrepreneurship in local communities and showing that entrepreneurship can grow and flourish in cities of all sizes around Colombia.
