Endeavor, a global non-profit organization that supports and accelerates high-impact entrepreneurs by connecting them with talent, capital, and a worldwide peer and mentor network, today announced that it is to open an office in Pakistan this year.
Endeavor PK will work with founders and companies that have passed through the initial start-up phase and demonstrate the potential for rapid expansion and scale. Several founding Endeavor Pakistan board members, along with Endeavor’s Head of Expansion attended Pakistan’s Future Fest to announce the expansion. Endeavor Pakistan is anchored by a strong founding Board of Directors, including Ali Mukhtar, Founder and GP, Fatima-Gobi Ventures; Amir Paracha, Chairman, and CEO, Unilever Pakistan; Mudassir Sheikha, Co-Founder, and CEO, Careem (Endeavor Entrepreneur); Osman Rashid, Chairman & CEO: Convo, SOAR Schools & Khoj Resorts; and Tania Aidrus, Co-founder, Rayn Group. The operation of the Endeavor Pakistan office will be self-funded by its Board of Directors, with a long-term funding plan.
“I am thrilled to see the launch of Endeavor Pakistan as our country’s startup scene continues to grow from strength to strength,” said Mudassir Sheikha. “Pakistan is one of the last untapped economies in the world with the fifth largest population and an emerging ecosystem of tech entrepreneurs who are passionate and hungry to make an impact. However, scaling a rapidly-growing business comes with significant challenges. Endeavor’s global network and unparalleled support will help entrepreneurs in Pakistan learn from others, scale locally, expand globally, and ultimately increase their impact. I look forward to working with the Board to grow the Endeavor community in Pakistan and make tech entrepreneurship a strong and sustainable engine of growth for our country.”
Endeavor Pakistan will be Endeavor’s 40th office to launch since its founding year in 1997. Endeavor has helped 2,286 entrepreneurs build 1,420 companies in 40 markets throughout North America, Latin America, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Europe. To date, companies led by Endeavor Entrepreneurs have created 3 million jobs in their local economies and often go on to mentor and invest in the next generation of founders. They operate in a wide range of industries, including enterprise software and services, fintech, food & beverage, education, healthcare, agriculture, retail and consumer tech, and smart cities.
Founder of Endeavor, Linda Rottenberg, said, “We couldn’t be more excited to bring Endeavor’s model to Pakistan with strong support from a committed group of local stakeholders, including Endeavor Entrepreneur Mudassir Sheikha. Endeavor Pakistan will help the country’s highest-growth companies scale up and expand internationally while providing a platform for entrepreneurs to pay their success forward locally, furthering the entrepreneurial ecosystem and enabling future generations of Pakistani founders.”
