The 2018 Endeavor Gala, held Thursday November 29, 2018, at Spring Studios in New York City, convened nearly 500 Endeavor Entrepreneurs, international business leaders, and Endeavor’s global network to celebrate a milestone 1.5 million jobs created by Endeavor Entrepreneurs, the communities impacted, and the lives transformed. As Endeavor’s only annual fundraising event, the Gala is held in support of the organization’s mission to select, support, and scale high-impact entrepreneurs in growth markets around the world.

This year’s Gala honored Bill McGlashan, Founder and Managing Partner, TPG Growth and Co-Founder and CEO, The Rise Fund. Bill serves on Endeavor Global’s Board of Directors and has invested in Endeavor Entrepreneur companies Cellulant (Kenya), Digital House (Argentina), and Resultados Digitais (Brazil).

The Gala featured a video highlighting the transformative impact  Endeavor Entrepreneurs have had on their employees, as well as a personal message from Bill McGlashan (below).

Kicking off the program, Endeavor Co-founder and CEO Linda Rottenberg shared stories of three individuals earning a living through Endeavor companies Mercado Libre, Cellulant, and ASTI, and elaborated on the role of job creation in high-impact entrepreneurship.

“Jobs at Endeavor companies aren’t just any jobs,” Rottenberg said. “They’re jobs that provide steady, significant income, well above the minimum wage. They’re jobs that offer flexibility — many are on-demand, meaning they can be performed anywhere, anytime. They’re jobs available to an increasingly heterogeneous workforce — young people, retirees, stay-at-home moms, people living in rural areas. They’re jobs that offer training and mentorship along with a platform to pay it forward. Endeavor jobs are the jobs of the future.”

During the event, Endeavor Global Chairman Edgar Bronfman, Jr. also led a discussion with Endeavor Kenya Entrepreneurs Ken Njoroge and Bolaji Akinboro of Cellulant, who shared their vision for connecting Africa with blockchain technology, their recent investment round led by The Rise Fund, and how Endeavor enriched that experience.

Throughout the evening, gala attendees enjoyed an innovative dinner menu highlighting and incorporating Entrepreneur products, including JAVARA salt from Indonesia, Ergon Olive Oil from Greece, Balqees Honey from the UAE, and Al Almeed Coffee from Jordan. The program ended with a vocal performance by Warner Music Group artist Matt Maeson.

Following the Gala program, Endeavor’s celebration of high-impact entrepreneurship and job creation continued at the Scale-Up Party, where music by Hannah Bronfman set the tone for a lively night. Truly an event of, by, and for entrepreneurs, Gala attendees explored interactive installations showcasing Endeavor companies, including Seven Dreamers (Japan), by FAR shoes (Bulgaria), Loog Guitars (Uruguay), Rabbit Hole Distillery (Louisville), and more.
