Led by Endeavor Entrepreneur Geoff Horst, Algal Scientific celebrated a significant milestone in March when its proprietary beta-glucan manufacturing technology was acquired by global nutritional ingredient company Kemin Industries. The acquisition was highlighted on Yahoo Finance.

Algal Scientific develops a wastewater treatment system that removes and recovers nutrients from wastewater using an algae-based process.

Selected as one of Endeavor Detroit’s first entrepreneurs in 2015 at the 60th International Selection Panel in San Francisco, Geoff has worked with Endeavor to scale his business, enrolling in an exclusive Harvard Business School workshop led by Endeavor Detroit Board Member and Mentor Lynda Applegate, making network connections, and receiving Endeavor Mentors throughout the recent acquisition process.

“From the beginning, I’ve believed in the model of Endeavor. By fully utilizing Endeavor Detroit’s services and network, I was able to make meaningful connections that prepared and led me to this major business milestone for Algal,” said Geoff, who serves as Algal Scientific’s chief science officer. “I look forward to seeing how the technology we’ve created will have a greater impact on the world through Kemin.”
