After living in New York City upon graduating from North Carolina State University with a degree in Computer and Electrical Engineering, Palestine-born Khalil Shadid decided to put real-time restaurant reservations at the palms of customers’ hands. He, along with his then-roommate Bashar Thawabi, moved to Jordan to create ReserveOut in 2011.

The pair created software to upturn the traditional pen and paper system with an online reservation, and table and customer data management platform that increases the efficiency and quality of customer service. The two went beyond the proven OpenTable concept by innovating with features that cater to challenges unique to the region, such as intelligent software that allows restaurants to search for customers based on the phonetic spelling of their names. Khalil and Bashar realized that this program’s creation would not only solve a problem for them and many others, but would also allow them to combine their passion for technology and love for good food and dining experiences.

ReserveOut enables online and mobile users to easily search and immediately reserve with restaurants that are part of the ReserveOut network. The technology has seamlessly transformed the way diners in the Middle East and North Africa maker reservations and how restaurants collect customer data, by providing an end-to-end service.
