First-Class Mining Attachments (FMA) designs and manufactures semi-customized equipment to address clients’ task-specific needs, in order to increase worker safety in mines. FMA’s clients operate in 25 countries across five continents, and it is on the brink of a major international expansion campaign.

As a young man, founder Hernán Restini was interested in mechanics. He worked for, and later became the president of, Atom Industrial, a manufacturer and distributor of agricultural, mining, and construction equipment. There he developed sophisticated machinery to automate manual tasks with Chile’s renowned vineyards and orchards. This prowess inspired his son Gonzalo to seek an MBA from Berkeley University.

In 2005, IMAC, a design company partnered with Atom Industrial, lost interest in Chile and sold their shares to Hernán. He enlisted Gonzalo to help act as the company’s Executive Director. Together, the father-son duo pivoted FMA to strictly produce mining equipment.

FMA enhances functionality and versatility of earth-moving and utility vehicles. FMA’s auxiliary equipment automates tasks, reducing the time it takes to complete a job by up to 70%, and minimizes the risk of worker injury. By virtue of FMA’s client-centric innovation process, it developed the capability to manufacture auxiliary equipment to the client’s exact specifications.
