Avenida is ready to become the leading multi-category ecommerce site in Argentina. This retailer is building a digital avenue for low-cost items with flexible financing and shipping alternatives.
Avenida co-founders Federico “Fede” Malek and Alan Kraus met while attending Universidad de San Andres, graduating in 2007 with Bachelor’s Degrees in Economics and Business Administration, respectively. Fede completed his Masters at Georgetown, while Alan worked as a consultant at McKinsey. In 2010 the two started Wallooz, which Groupon soon acquired.
During their time at Groupon, they saw a market opportunity for retail e-commerce in Argentina. Tired of corporate life, they were ready to start their own venture. They pitched their idea to Quasar Ventures, and soon received seed funding to start Avenida. By 2013, the website was live and running!
Avenida offers its customers a vast selection of brand name products at prices that are typically 15% cheaper than other online or offline stores, with flexible payment and delivery options. Customers can also choose between multiple payment options, including interest-free installments.
Fede and Alan’s industry know-how coupled with Avenida’s fully integrated logistics set the company apart from other e-commerce sites in Argentina. They negotiate bulk purchases with suppliers based on its data dashboards, ensuring that its buys products at the lowest possible prices while keeping up with demand.
