Chile’s Neptuno Pumps, founded by Petar Ostojic, was awarded a Technical Innovation of the Year Award for designing new pumps from recycled materials that are more energy efficient and cost effective. Each year, the Pump Industry Awards recognize the best performing companies and people for their achievements in the industry. Neptuno Pumps is the first company to secure the Technical Innovation Award for the third consecutive year.
Neptuno has attained achievements in improving energy efficiency and reusing and recycling materials of old pumps as part of the company’s circular economy initiative. As a pump manufacturer located in the Atacama Desert, the driest place on earth, the company has committed to caring for scarce resources and transforming the challenge of climate change into global opportunities for the industry. Their new design and manufacturing process for new pumps uses 30% fewer components, which increases the pumping capacity by 5% and ultimately reducing 3,798 tons of CO2 emissions annually.
Selected into the network in 2015, Petar and his team have received advisory board services from Endeavor’s mentor network and also had the opportunity to participate in the 2016-2017 Economic Competitiveness in Latin America (ECLA) program. The company engineers state-of-the-art, energy-efficient pumps capable of transporting water over longer distances and for longer durations than the competition. As the only local manufacturer of industrial centrifugal pumps in the Southern Cone, Neptuno controls 30% of the Chilean market.
