Endeavor Egypt, along with entrepreneur companies TA Telecom and Eventtus, were mentioned in a Financial Times article on Cairo’s growing tech scene and the state of talent and capital in the region. Despite political issues and lack of venture funds, Cairo’s ecosystem has a strong network of universities, institutions and mentors supporting entrepreneurs.
Heba Gamal, managing director of Endeavor Egypt, remarked that the country’s consumer population allows for new businesses to “test and fail, and test again and refine their product” before expanding. One example spotlighted is Endeavor Entrepreneur Amr Shady, founder of TA Telecom, whose mobile and communications solutions firm has made him a role model and mentor for other local entrepreneurs. Amr has given back to Endeavor in a myriad of ways, serving as an Endeavor Egypt Board member and participating in various events promoting high-impact entrepreneurship.
Entrepreneur Mai Medhat, who co-founded event ticketing platform Eventtus, also provided insight on the importance of creating Egyptian success stories and attracting more capital to the region.
