Endeavor Entrepreneur Andy Freire, one of the first Entrepreneurs to be selected by Endeavor, was named the future Minister of Economic Development of the City of Buenos Aires. The role will focus on modernization, innovation and technology and demonstrates the impact of entrepreneurs who build companies and establish their presence as mentors, investors and influencers. Freire co-founded Officenet and Quasar Ventures, which spurred the formation of multiple other businesses, and was also the former chairman of Endeavor Argentina.
A well known entrepreneur and role model in Argentina, Freire has been President of Argentina’s Entrepreneurship Foundation where he coordinates projects that promote entrepreneurship and innovation across the country. His recognition includes two awards received from the World Economic Forum: “Global Leader of Tomorrow” (2002) and “Young Global Leader” (2008). In addition, Freire serves as a member of the Global Advisory Board of the Harvard Business School and continues to be an active member of the Endeavor network both in Argentina and globally.
In his new role, he will be key in developing and shaping policies towards entrepreneurship and development across Buenos Aires, where Endeavor has an established presence. The honor is an example of how far high-impact entrepreneurs can go – from building their own businesses to investing in other founders, to ultimately influencing policy decisions in their communities.
