Mr McIntire is the (non-executive) Chairman of Open English, a rapidly growing, online English-teaching school with over 20,000 active students in Latin America. He was an early investor in the company and has been instrumental in its development, including leading several rounds of venture capital financing. Mr. McIntire is also a director of and advisor to Nexstar Capital Partners, LLC, a New York-based fund manager focused on Latin American credit and private equity investment.

He retired in 2004 as a partner of Goldman, Sachs & Co, where he spent 12 years (1992-2004) focused on Latin America. During his last four years, he headed all of the Latin American activities of that firm, a diversified portfolio of financial businesses with over $400 million in revenue. Prior to being appointed head of the Latin American region, Mr. McIntire was co-head of the Global Emerging Markets group, which included fixed income, foreign exchange and derivative areas. He established the first capital markets desk dedicated to Latin America when he joined the firm, focusing on capital raising and risk management for Goldman’s clients in that part of the world. During his career at Goldman he assumed responsibility for the firm’s key relationships with finance ministries, public sector companies and central banks, and was also very involved with many of the larger private sector clients in the region.

Prior to Goldman Sachs, Mr. McIntire was a director in the international debt and equity capital markets areas at Credit Suisse/First Boston in both London and New York (1985-1991). Mr. McIntire began his career as a credit and corporate finance specialist at The Chase Manhattan Bank (1979-1984), where he was involved in Latin American corporate restructuring.

Mr. McIntire has been active with Endeavor since its launch in the selection and mentoring of promising entrepreneurs and companies in Latin America. He is actively involved in humanitarian and policy issues related to his native Cuba, including being a Director of the Cuba Study Group and a member of the Council of the America’s Cuba Working Group.

Mr. McIntire graduated from Princeton University with a BA in Economics.
